Seasoning with the sea - we unlock the full potential of unused resources

Australian Seaweed

Seaweed has a potential to become a vital part of the green transition of the food industry.

Australian coastal waters are home to thousands of native seaweed species, many of these are unique to Australia.

Australian seaweed has a long history of being used as a wild catch by First Nation people but now it's just left to rot on the beaches.

We are building a pathway for Australian seaweed to be used as food - building local value chain starting from harvesting / farming with pathways to primary processing and product development, from high value food ingredients to innovative food products. Our vision is to bring Australian local seaweed species to the center of seafood plate and establish Australia as a leading global supplier of sea vegetables.

Waste to taste

We believe chefs have the power to change the world as they influence what people eat. Food is a powerful argument for a change as we buy and eat food daily.

We founded Seaweedery to develop future foods - to use our skills to build a new, sustainable and local food system.

Bring health and taste straight from the sea to the plate, unlocking the full potential of an ocean food bowl.

Sustainable seafood – why this matter?

1/3

We all love seafood, but  1/3 of wild fisheries are overfished and no longer biologically sustainable.

And when we eat seafood, we eat only some parts of it - the best nutritional elements are wasted during primary processing.

It’s a lot of nutritious healthy food to feed the growing population.

Our oceans are under threat and we need to move rapidly towards a more sustainable approach

Your food choices matter not only for your health, but also for an environment.

We set our mission to rescue flavours and nutrition lost or wasted in seafood supply chain

The essence of our products is to make the most of nature, waste nothing creating delicious food.
